Orange County PEX Repairs

PEX expansion connections rarely fail when installed correctly but it can happen. Fortunately, repairs on PEX pipes are usually straightforward because you can cut out the bad section and splice in a new piece.

Not all plumbing companies are able to do PEX repairs correctly or have the right tools on their trucks, but we do. We have PEX-A expansion tools and heads that are needed to make factory-correct, code-approved expansion connections every time. We repair Uponor AquaPEX (formerly Wirsbo), Viega PureFlow or any ProPEX system.

Our Home Repiping Process

  1. On-Site Consultation & Quote: We inspect the pipes, identify any problems and discuss options. We then provide an estimate and a timeline for the repipe.
  2. Permits & Planning: We pull the required permits and plan the new pipe layout.
  3. Protect The Home: To keep floors, furniture, and other things from getting damaged we use drop cloths, plastic sheeting, and plywood.
  4. Water Shut-Off & Drain: Before old pipes are cut, we turn off the main water supply and the whole system is drained to prevent flooding.
  5. Remove Old Pipes: Careful cuts are made in the drywall to get to old pipes. We take out old galvanized, polybutylene, lead, or copper pipes that aren’t working right and replace them with new lines.
  6. Install New Water Lines: We install new PEX or copper lines from the water meter or main shut-off through the attic, crawlspace, or walls to every fixture, like sinks, showers, and toilets.
  7. Install New Manifolds or Stub-Outs: If included, we install in a manifold system (home-run PEX) or new stub-outs at each fixture location.
  8. Test The New System: We fill the new pipes with air or water, turn the pressure way up, and watch it for hours to make sure nothing leaks. If even a tiny drip comes out, the test fails.
  9. Connect Fixtures & Appliances: We connect the new pipes to all of the faucets, toilets, showers, water heater, dishwasher, and washing machine.
  10. Final Inspection: Before the walls can be closed, the city or county inspector looks over our work and gives it the go-ahead.
  11. Drywall Repair, Patching, Cleanup: Walls and ceilings are patched, taped, textured (if needed), and prepared for painting. Debris is removed and floors are cleaned
  12. Walk through: We walk you through new system, valve locations, and warranty.
  13. Go Live: Water is put back in, air is taken out of the lines, and each fixture is checked to make sure it flows and stays at the right temperature.
Depending on the size and ease of access, our repiping process usually takes 1 day to repipe and one day for drywall repairs for an average single-family home.

Orange County Repiping Hotspots

OC Homes from Middle of the 1950s to the Middle of the 1970s

Whole-house repiping is very common in older Orange County tract-home neighborhoods. These include parts of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach (south of Adams), Costa Mesa (east of the 55), Tustin (old town area), and older parts of Lake Forest and Mission Viejo, CA. Almost all of these houses were built with galvanized pipers that are 50 to 70 years old. These pipes often get rusty, which slows down water flow, turns it brown, and causes leaks. Because Orange County has very hard water and the pipes have been used for decades, once one leak shows up, there are usually a lot more to come. The best long-term solution is to repipe the whole thing.

OC Homes from Late 1970s to Middle of the 1950s

Homes built in neighborhoods such as Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Yorba Linda, CA, and newer sections of Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo, CA. Many of these houses often have polybutylene piping that is now discontinued due to frequent failure. The presence of chloramine in Orange County’s water also sped up the process.

OC Homes from 1980s to the 2000s
Laguna Niguel, Ladera Ranch, Aliso Viejo, Lake Forest, Dana Point, San Clemente, Rancho Santa Margarita, Irvine (older villages), Mission Viejo, CA

Since the hard water in south OC is aggressive, it eats through copper faster than in most other parts of the country. This causes copper pinhole leaks and slab leaks to happen over and over again.

OC Coastal Neighborhoods
Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Huntington Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, CA

The salty coastal air can speed up corrosion on exposed pipe sections and fixtures. Many older coastal homes still have their original copper or galvanized pipes.

Additional Pipe Services We Offer

Home Repipe Consultation

The best way to find out what’s really wrong with your plumbing is to have a free, no-pressure repipe consultation. One of our skilled plumbers will come to your home, check your water pressure, examine the pipes, and look for any problems. Then, we will tell you if you really need a full repipe, if the problem is something smaller (like a single bad pipe section, a pressure regulator, or hard-water buildup), or if everything still looks good for now.

We don’t want to push you to get a repipe if you don’t need one. A lot of the time, we just say, “You’re good for years” or “Let’s just replace this one valve and you’re good.” You’ll get a clear, list of your options and the exact costs only if work really needs to be done.
