Types of Sump Pump Solutions

At Helitech, we offer reliable sump pump solutions to keep your basement dry and protected. When it comes to keeping your basement dry, Helitech offers two main types of sump pumps: submersible and pedestal.

Submersible Sump Pump
The Submersible sump pump is installed below the floor level, hidden in a sump pit. It activates when water rises to a certain level, pumping it out through a discharge pipe. This sump pump solution it’s less visible and usually lasts longer.

Pedestal Sump Pump
Mounted above the sump, this sump pump is easier to service but more visible. It’s typically more budget-friendly, though it may not last as long as submersible pumps. Both options ensure your basement stays dry by pumping out excess water efficiently.

Basement Sump Pump Reinforcement

If you’re considering a sump pump installation, there are important factors to keep in mind:

  • Battery Backup: A backup battery system ensures your pump works even during power outages. This is crucial if your basement has a higher water load.
  • Backup Pump: For heavy water flow, consider an additional sump pump for extra security.
  • Float Sensor: This triggers the pump when water levels rise and sounds an alarm if action is needed.
  • Dehumidifiers: Help control moisture, preventing mold, odors, and potential flooding.

Helitech professionals will thoroughly assess your home’s specific needs and recommend the best sump pump solution to keep your basement dry. By working with Helitech, you can be confident that your home will be protected from water damage with a tailored, effective solution that meets your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sump Pumps

Basement water issues often stem from heavy rainfall, poor exterior drainage, a high water table, or cracks in the foundation. A sump pump effectively collects and expels this excess water, preventing it from accumulating and causing damage to your basement.

It’s recommended to test your sump pump at least every few months, and especially before heavy rain seasons. You can do this by slowly pouring a bucket of water into the sump pit. The pump should activate, remove the water, and then shut off automatically. If it doesn’t, it may be time for a professional inspection.

Without a battery backup system or a secondary backup pump, a sump pump will not operate during a power outage, leaving your basement vulnerable to flooding. This is why Helitech recommends a reliable battery backup or a secondary backup pump to ensure continuous protection, even when the power is out.

Yes. By effectively removing excess moisture from your basement, a sump pump significantly reduces the humidity levels. This helps prevent the growth of mold and mildew, which are common contributors to poor indoor air quality and can trigger allergies or respiratory issues. Maintaining a dry basement is crucial for a healthier home environment.
